Sharon Wilkerson-Gilpin
Sharon Wilkerson-Gilpin is an author and journalist with more than 20 years of professional writing experience. A native of Richmond, VA, Sharon began writing an anthology of inspirational poetry at age 12 and later became a journalist.
Education and Professional Experience
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor of science degree in mass communications, Sharon has worked as a newspaper reporter, radio news reporter, research producer for a public access TV Magazine, and as a public affairs specialist with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. She is also a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape, May, NJ, Sharon is the author of ANGELS WATCHING OVER ME, a book of inspirational poetry celebrating the Christian experience and history. She is also a recipient of the Silver Poet and Golden Poet Awards from the World of Poetry. Sharon lives and works in Henrico County, VA. With a love for helping children and families, she works in the social services field in foster care and adoptions. She assists with foster and adoptive parent recruitment and writes an adoptive and foster parent newsletter. Sharon and her husband, Wayne, are adoptive parents and strong advocates for children.
